monotypes stages 4 and 5 - monotipi fase 4 e 5

A bit lost for word today. - not like me… just a plough on day. working across these monotypes - there are about 10 at last count - trying to keep them at roughly the same stage so they don't get away on me

With a lovely dentist appointment at the end of it.
Why are dental hygienist such savages?

All is not lost I have just been handed a nice glass of Sauvignon

Monotypes - stages 2 and 3

Starting to layer these up now. These lithographic inks are lovely - they can be so opaque at times but can also be made to be quite translucent.

Been bright and blue here so maybe I am cracking the gloom using a brighter palette. Still a little haunted by the unfinished paintings looming in the background but their time will come again I have no doubt

Monotype or monoprint - printing - stage 2 - la stampa - seconda fase

After the uplifting yellow of the other day I am now onto the next stage with these prints. A cheerful peacock-ish blue. Doing wonders for morale in these dog days where light levels are so low.

I call them monotypes but I guess they don't really fall into either the monotype or monoprint catagories.  A monotype being defined as a print taken from a blank surface which is painted onto in someway. That is to say it does not have as it's base a form of consistent mark produced by an etching, embossing, woodcut…. as in the case of a monoprint (a monoprint is still unique as it is made so by added differences such as collage, hand painting or a combination of different etchings woodcuts or whatever on one print).

I am using some common forms which could say monoprint but they are effectively blank and are being inked differently both in terms of colour and texture and density so I think on balance I will stick with monotypes.  Confused??

Confuso ??
