Mad dogs and Englishmen..... we have been building (with Ugo's unflagging help) an outside area where I can work more readily on my sculptures. So no more excuses and no more ruined paintings I hope.

Durante i giorni più caldi di quest' estate noi, come cane pazzi o Inglese pazzi - sceglete voi  - (con aiuto di Ugo sempre) siamo stati costruendo uno spazio fuori dove posso lavorare più tranqillamente sulle sculture. Niente più scuse e niente più dipinti rovinati - almeno spero.

chaos reigns - che casino

Chaos reigns as I'm trying get some projects that I've had in mind, half completed or in bits finished off. Amongst these are three heads I have been thinking about for months. 

Che casino mentre sto cercando in questi giorni da finire alcuni progetti che ho avuto in mente, metà completati o in pezzi. Tra questi sono tre teste di cui sono stata pensando per mesi.

oggi

Today I profited from Adrian's misfortune. he has been lying down aching with a fluey nastiness so instead of pruning I have been in the studio all day. It felt like a sculpture day as the monotypes are still drying before their next stage.  The pictures below are all upside down btw.

Oggi ho approfittato dalla sfortuna di Adrian. è stato sdraiato con un tipo di influenza doloroso e cattivo così invece di fare la potatura sono stata in lo studio per tutto il giorno. Mi sembrava una giornata di scultura siccome i monotipi sono ancora asciugando prima del loro prossimo fase. Le immagini sotto sono tutte a testa in giù.

Been working on some sculptures lately. These are smaller than your fist  and are inspired by small roman and etruscan bronzes … others are larger… thinking about what we recognise as human. How our brains look for faces in everything and how figures however disfigured register with us… More laters...

che meraviglia

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but che meraviglia I found on a pre pranzo quick walk just now - reminds me of the sculpture work I need to get time for - nagging away the pile of iron scroungings I'm collecting for the purpose. This find was swiftly followed up by a sounder of boar complete with "boarlets"- all making quite a racket and far too close for comfort - Ugo barking we high tailing it out of there. Luckily they decided to go the other way - fantastic to see them running full tilt through a newly mowed grove. This is the second sighting we've had in less than a week which is unusual in broad daylight. Sadly they are far too quick for decent photos. Maybe next time.

loving the lumber

planks of olmo. 

Loved the wood yesterday as I was buying my boring panels for painting and mounting. All around me were these fabulous planks of elm, oak, chestnut just waiting to be a sculpture - maybe for another exhibition. for now having had a day off at AgriUmbra tomorrow it is back to work in the studio. For those unfamiliar with AgriUmbria the pics below will give you the tip. Love an AMP show me.
